Boris Johnson has this afternoon confirmed that 1.3 million people throughout the UK have received their coronavirus vaccine.
This figure is from the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine that has been administered since December 8th. The AstraZeneca vaccine was rolled out yesterday to a small number of locations in the UK and will soon be administered all over the country, including Morrisons supermarket car-parks.
The Prime Minister has also announced that the latest data from the Office for National Statistics estimates that as many as one in every 50 people in England could currently have coronavirus.
Mr Johnson has promised regular updates from next week telling us exactly how many people have been vaccinated saying “I want to give you – the British people – the maximum possible transparency about this vaccine roll out with more detail on Thursday and daily updates from Monday so that you can see day by day, and jab by jab, how much progress we are making.”
