Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Launches ‘Flight to Funding’ Competition for Young Entrepreneurs

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance has launched an exciting new competition for young people across the region, offering them the chance to turn their fundraising ideas into reality while supporting a lifesaving local charity.

The ‘Flight to Funding’ competition is open to secondary schools, sixth forms, and colleges across Wiltshire and Bath, challenging students to plan and pitch creative fundraising events inspired by the entrepreneurial flair of Dragons’ Den.

The initiative aims to inspire the next generation of changemakers, encouraging innovation, teamwork, and community spirit, all while raising funds for the air ambulance’s critical missions.

“Flight to Funding is a fantastic way for young people to get involved in something that makes a real difference,” said Rebecca de la Bedoyere, Deputy Director of Income Generation at Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance.
“It’s not only about raising money – it’s about inspiring the next generation of community leaders and problem-solvers.”

Judging and mentoring

Three finalists will be shortlisted and invited to pitch their ideas to a panel of “Dragons” in early 2026, including members of the charity’s leadership team and supporters from its Business Club.

This year’s panel includes:

  • Saffron Rabey, Business Development Manager at BMW Dick Lovett Melksham and Mayor of Melksham

  • Josh Dolman, Commercial Director at Elevate Cloud

  • Helen Griffiths, Fundraising Team Leader at Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance

  • Rebecca de la Bedoyere, Deputy Director of Income Generation at Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance

The winning student or team will work alongside these mentors to bring their idea to life during the summer term of 2026, developing valuable skills in project planning, budgeting, communications, and teamwork.

The journey will conclude with an awards ceremony and cheque presentation in September 2026.

How to enter

The competition officially launches this autumn, and schools can now request application packs and resources. Entries close in January 2026.
