Swindon could be set to experience one of the coldest winters in 30 years with the return of the “Beast from the East” scientists say.
A freezing vortex of Arctic air will blast the UK bringing icy temperatures and widespread snow which is expected to last for weeks
Researchers at University College London (UCL) say there is a “57% chance that central England temperature will be colder than in 2018” showing January and February to be one of the coldest in the past three decades.
The “Beast from the East” last year saw temperatures in Scotland plunge to -14C and snowfall in Gloucestershire of 57cm.
Winds reached 70mph and some 57cm of snow fell at once in Gloucestershire.
