Swindon financial firm supports Christmas dinner for people spending the day alone

A Swindon-based financial advisory firm has donated £1,000 to help ensure people who would otherwise spend Christmas alone can enjoy a warm meal and company on the day itself.

DSNY Wealth Planning has supported Christ Church Swindon’s Christmas Dinner Appeal, which funds the church’s annual Alone at Christmas event.

The initiative creates a welcoming space on Christmas Day for people facing isolation, offering a traditional three-course lunch, carols and the chance to watch the King’s Speech together.

For many attendees, the event provides not only a meal but companionship during what can be a particularly difficult time of year.

DSNY Wealth Planning, which specialises in lifestyle financial planning, said the donation reflects its wider commitment to supporting local causes alongside its client work.

The firm contributes more than £20,000 each year through donations, sponsorship and partnerships, and supports organisations aligned with its sustainability and community goals. Its approach also includes efforts to reduce environmental impact, such as using energy-efficient office space, electric vehicles and carbon offsetting through a Trees For Life partnership.

Paul Fell, Chartered Financial Planner at DSNY Wealth Planning, said supporting the appeal was about recognising the importance of community connection.

“Christmas can be an isolating time if you don’t have family nearby, if you’ve lost someone close, or if you’re simply facing the day on your own,” he said.
“What Christ Church does through Alone at Christmas is very powerful. It’s not just about the food – it’s about reminding people that they’re not forgotten and that their community is there for them.”

Christ Church Swindon’s Christmas Dinner Appeal raises funds each year to cover the cost of food, volunteers and the running of the event, ensuring it remains open and accessible to anyone who needs it.
