Wiltshire Police are warning residents in the Stratton area to be vigilant following reports of opportunist burglaries.
Between 11pm on October 24 and 9.30am on October 25, a house in Frilford Drive was broken into.
A handbag containing a purse, bank cards and headphones was stolen.
A similar incident also occurred at an address in Whilestone Way between 8pm and 10pm on October 25 – two handbags containing a purse and a number of cards were stolen.
PC Kevin Payne said: “On both occasions, the occupants have been at home and completely unaware anything had happened.
“Both burglaries occurred within a 24 hour period, and the offenders have clearly not been deterred by the poor weather or the fact that the residents have been at home.
“Incidents of this nature are often committed by opportunists and can take just a matter of minutes. I’d urge everyone to be vigilant, and ensure all doors, gates and windows are locked and secure, even when you are at home.
“Please report anything you feel is suspicious via 101 and if a crime is in progress, call 999 immediately.”
