A repeat drug dealer who used a Swindon hotel room to store and prepare Class A drugs has been jailed following an investigation by Wiltshire Police’s Serious Organised Crime Unit.
Barry Bramble, 32, formerly of Vyners Close in Cirencester, appeared before Swindon Crown Court on Monday 11 May after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
He was sentenced to five years and six months in prison.
Police said Bramble was arrested on 16 February this year after officers found him in possession of crack cocaine while he was still on licence for a previous Class A drugs conviction.
His arrest followed an ongoing investigation by SOCU officers, who had linked him to drug supply activity in Swindon.
Following his arrest, officers discovered he had been using a hotel room in the town to store and prepare further quantities of crack cocaine and heroin.
Additional drugs were seized during searches and Bramble was subsequently charged and remanded into custody.
Detective Constable Jared Yalden, from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, said Bramble had continued offending despite already being subject to licence conditions from earlier convictions.
“Bramble is a repeat offender who was still on licence for his previous offending when he was caught again with cocaine and heroin,” he said.
“Cracking down on criminals like Bramble is a priority for our team. We know that drug networks are heavily linked with organised crime, violence and antisocial behaviour, which has a significant wider impact on our communities.”
DC Yalden added that young people are often targeted by organised crime groups involved in drug dealing, with teenagers sometimes groomed into transporting and distributing drugs.
Wiltshire Police say tackling organised drug supply remains a key focus for officers and once again appealed for information from the public.
Anyone with information relating to suspected drug activity is urged to contact police via 101 or through the Wiltshire Police website. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers.
