South Swindon Parish Council Join Line-Up of Old Town Festival Fringe

A packed programme of comedy, music and heritage events will take place in Swindon’s Town Gardens as part of this year’s Old Town Festival fringe celebrations.

South Swindon Parish Council has confirmed four events will be hosted at the historic park across the festival period, with organisers promising something for all ages.

Among the highlights is the return of Comedy at the Bowl on 31 May, which this year will feature comedian and television regular Sara Pascoe as headline act.

The outdoor comedy night has become a popular fixture in the Old Town calendar and is expected to draw large crowds once again to the Town Gardens Bowl.

Councillor John Firmin said the parish council was pleased to continue supporting the wider festival.

“South Swindon Parish are delighted to be part of the Old Town Festival once again,” he said.

“The comedy night at the Bowl is becoming an annual favourite and we have music events for children and Mumford & Sons fans. Our popular heritage tour of Town Gardens is running as well, so there truly is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Music fans will also be able to enjoy The Mumford and Sons Story on 5 June, a live tribute celebrating the folk-rock band’s best-known songs and rise to fame.

Families with younger children are being encouraged to attend Music for Miniatures: Up in the Air on 7 June, described as a relaxed and interactive musical experience designed especially for younger audiences.

Also taking place on 7 June is the Town Gardens Heritage Tour, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the history of one of Swindon’s best-loved green spaces.

The Old Town Festival fringe has grown steadily in recent years, with venues and organisations across the area hosting performances, exhibitions and community events alongside the main festival programme.

Full details and ticket information for all Town Gardens events are available through South Swindon Parish Council’s website.
