Police are appealing for witnesses to this afternoons stabbing which has left a man in hospital.
Det Sgt Adrian Bray, from Swindon CID, said: ” We were called shortly after 2.15pm this afternoon to a report of a serious assault in Ferndale Road, in Rodbourne.
“Officers were at the scene within five minutes but the suspects had already left.
“Extensive searches of the area have been carried out but at this stage nobody has been arrested.
“Our early enquiries have led us to believe that between 1.45pm and 2.15pm the victim was followed by a group of four or five youths from the Western Flyer underpass, near to Harcourt Road, to Ferndale Road.
“Then, after the assault, they made off up Northern Road towards the Pinehurst direction.
“We know there were people in the area who probably saw these people fleeing the scene, most likely on pushbikes, and could have vital information which could assist with our enquiries.
“If you can help, or if you have dash cam footage or CCTV which could help with our investigation, then please call Swindon CID on 101, quoting log 177 of today (17/10).
Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
