The Downing Street press conference scheduled for 5pm today will be led by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
It is expected he will focus on the “crucial milestone” after all older residents in England’s eligible care homes were offered a vaccine.
It was also confirmed yesterday that four fifths of over-80s have received their first dose of the vaccine, alongside three quarters of those aged between 75 and 79.
For the UK to hit the government’s February 15th target, to vaccinate everyone in the top four priority groups, an average of 401,512 first doses of vaccine would need to be administered every day.
Matt Hancock says people will be able to enjoy ‘happy and free great British summer
