Nottingham Rock Trio GIRLBAND! to Kick Off Debut Album Tour in Marlborough

Nottingham-based rock trio GIRLBAND! are heading to Marlborough this November, with the Wiltshire town chosen as the opening stop of a six-date UK tour celebrating the release of their debut album.

The three-piece will perform at Sound Knowledge in Marlborough on Thursday 12th November, a day before their self-titled debut album arrives on Friday 13 November.

The tour will then visit London, Kingston, Oxford, Nottingham and Leeds, giving fans the opportunity to see the band perform in smaller, more intimate surroundings.

Your Holiday Starts Now

And rather than treating the appearances as traditional record shop performances, GIRLBAND! are planning something closer to a house party, bringing fans together to celebrate the new release.

Marlborough Gets the First Date of the Tour

Music fans in Wiltshire will be among the first to experience the band’s new material as GIRLBAND! begin their album celebrations at Sound Knowledge.

The independent record shop has built a reputation for hosting live performances and album events, bringing established and emerging artists to the town.

For GIRLBAND!, the Marlborough appearance marks the beginning of a busy week of performances across the country.

Fans who pre-order the album are also being offered the chance to join the band for drinks at a nearby pub, with further details expected to be announced.

The idea is to make the events feel less like formal promotional appearances and more like spending an evening with friends.

A Debut Album Inspired by Friendship, Heartbreak and House Parties

The band’s self-titled album draws heavily on their experiences of touring, relationships, friendships and the ups and downs of everyday life.

Much of the inspiration comes from the small terraced house where the group first began making music together.

What started as a rehearsal space quickly became a gathering place for friends, with sessions regularly turning into parties and the occasional visit from the police following complaints about the noise.

Those experiences helped shape the sound and stories behind the new record.

The album explores everything from falling in love and dealing with break-ups to loneliness, friendship and trying to find a place in the world.

Rather than presenting everything as perfect, the songs reflect the sometimes chaotic reality of being young, making mistakes and working out what comes next.

A Sound Built Around Big Guitars and Catchy Choruses

Musically, GIRLBAND! draw inspiration from the alternative rock scene of the 1990s, combining fuzzy guitars, garage-rock energy and powerful choruses.

Fans of The Breeders, Hole and The Cranberries may recognise some of those influences, alongside elements of classic pop-rock.

Their single Neighbour’s House was given its first radio play by Chris Hawkins on BBC Radio 6 Music, while 5AM also received support from Craig Charles on the station.

Other tracks on the album include She Said, Right On Time and All My Friends, each exploring different aspects of relationships and personal experiences.

The band’s music has already attracted attention from publications including NME, Rolling Stone UK, Clash, The Line of Best Fit and Dork.

More Than 200 Shows Already Under Their Belts

Although this will be their debut album, GIRLBAND! are no strangers to performing live.

The trio have already played more than 200 shows across the UK and Europe, appearing at major festivals including Glastonbury, Isle of Wight Festival, Reeperbahn and The Great Escape.

They have also shared stages with acts including Sex Pistols, Jake Bugg, James, Palaye Royale, Destroy Boys and Nxdia.

Their music has attracted almost one million views on YouTube, while European performances supporting Sting have helped introduce the group to a wider audience.

With their first full-length record now ready for release, the band are hoping to build on that experience with a new run of live dates.
