Lawn Manor Academy Marks Remembrance Day with Wreath Laying and Musical Tribute

Pupils and staff at Lawn Manor Academy in Swindon came together to commemorate Remembrance Day, honouring the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who have served in conflicts across the world.

As part of the school’s annual remembrance activities, a wreath was laid on behalf of all pupils, and Music Teacher Adam Saunders performed The Last Post on trumpet to begin a two-minute silence and moment of reflection.

Year 8 pupil Isabella also performed The Last Post on violin — a piece she had learnt especially for the occasion. Her moving performance was shared on the school’s social media as a wider community tribute.

Head of School Russell Langdown said:

“Remembrance Day is a time for reflection and gratitude to those who gave their lives for our freedom today. It is inspiring to see our pupils engage with such sincerity and respect. Isabella’s performance and the laying of the wreath on behalf of all pupils show how deeply our school community values remembrance and the lessons of history.”

He added that remembrance plays an important role in Lawn Manor’s educational mission:

“As we work towards our status as a Beacon School, driven by our commitment to Holocaust education, remembering and reflecting on the past is a key aspect of preparing our pupils to be well-rounded, informed and responsible adults.”
