Chippenham Site Manager Wins Prestigious National Housebuilding Award

A Chippenham site manager has been recognised among the country’s best after receiving one of the housebuilding industry’s highest honours.

Luke Maggs, who oversees construction at Persimmon Homes’ Oak Hill Rise development, has been awarded a National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award, recognising excellence in site management and build quality.

The award is Luke’s third Pride in the Job accolade, having previously been recognised twice for his work at Persimmon’s Backbridge Farm development in Malmesbury.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, Luke began his career as a bricklayer in the family business before moving into site management. He rejoined Persimmon’s Wessex division in 2019 after an earlier spell with the company between 2003 and 2016.

At Oak Hill Rise, he works alongside assistant site manager Andy Marriott to oversee the delivery of new homes.

The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are regarded as one of the industry’s leading measures of construction quality. Site managers are assessed on a wide range of criteria, including workmanship, health and safety, technical expertise, leadership and overall site management.

Quality Award winners now progress to the next stage of the competition, with the chance of securing a Seal of Excellence Award before competing for regional and national honours at the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards in January 2027.

Speaking after receiving the award, Luke said he was proud to have his team’s efforts recognised.

“I’m honoured to receive this award and have the work I have put in at Oak Hill Rise recognised by the industry,” he said.

“I love being a site manager, pulling together a team to deliver a development. This is not just a project commissioned by an employer, but an essential objective to help tackle the country’s housing crisis by building high-quality homes for local people.”

Seb Spiller, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Wessex, said the award reflected Luke’s professionalism and commitment to high standards.

“This is a fantastic achievement for Luke and further demonstrates that the Persimmon team takes our commitment to delivering high-quality homes seriously,” he said.

“Luke’s work ethic, professionalism and experience are a credit to the business and an example of the standards we strive for at every site. This award is well earned and speaks to the pride Luke and his team take in what they do.”

The latest success continues Persimmon’s strong record in the NHBC awards, which are widely regarded as the benchmark for excellence in UK housebuilding.
