With growing concerns of the new Covid variant continuing to spread, the prime minister will lead this afternoon’s press briefing.
Due to take place at 4pm, this will be the first briefing held by Mr Johnson since the government introduced new measures to tackle the spread of omicron.
The Prime minister is expected to talk about the reintroduction of face masks, which came into effect earlier 4am today and will also look to encourage people to get their Covid booster vaccines, after they were made available to all people over the age of 18.
The time between people being eligible for their second and third jabs has also been reduced from six months down to three.
