Following the success of the hugely popular Tree Spotter’s Guidelast year, Westonbirt Arboretum today announced the publication of the second book in the Spotter’s Guide series:Westonbirt Arboretum’s Plant and Flower Spotter’s Guide, a pocket sized guide to help the reader spot and ID Britain’s wild woodland flora and fauna.

Written by leading experts, Dan Crowley from Westonbirt Arboretum and Matt Parratt from Forest Research, the book gives expert tips on identifying 100 woodland plants, including meadow saffron, sweet woodruff and solomon’s seal. Stunning illustrations, along with concise descriptions of each plant, create the perfect pocket sized companion for nature lovers across the country as they enjoy summer time walks through Britain’s woodlands.

Co-author, Dan Crowley said,“This second book in the series focuses on woodland plants–we hope it will encourage people to look around them when they are out in the woods, and be able to recognise and really appreciate some of the beautiful plants that can be easily missed. There’s a tick box on each page so people can keep track of what they’ve spotted. As well as more common plants, we’ve also included a few national rarities for those who are looking for a challenge – such as the spreading bellflower. We’ve already found it in Silk Wood at Westonbirt this summer!
