Woman and Young Boy Taken to Hospital After Dorcan Way Collision

A woman and a young boy remain in hospital following a serious collision on Dorcan Way in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6.10pm on Thursday, 22 May, after a van collided with two pedestrians who had just crossed the road after getting off a bus.

Wiltshire Police said the pedestrians involved were a four-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman.

According to officers, both had alighted from a bus on Dorcan Way before crossing behind it and being struck by a van travelling in the opposite direction.

The woman suffered serious and potentially life-changing injuries, while the boy sustained potentially serious injuries. Both remain in hospital receiving treatment.

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Dorcan Way was closed in both directions for several hours while specialist collision investigators carried out examinations. The road has since reopened.

Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision to come forward.
