A man has been arrested following two incidents where a car was seen to mount the kerb and almost collide with pedestrians in Swindon.
Shortly after 4 pm, today police received two calls from passers-by who had seen a white Vauxhall Corsa driving dangerously on Fleming Way, near the Jury’s Inn, and then Manchester Road, near the bus station.
Nobody was injured in the incidents, but witnesses said that a woman had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by the car, and then a group of males were also nearly hit.
Officers attended and quickly located the vehicle.
An 18-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
PC Jessica Dyer, from Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “Thankfully nobody was injured, but from what witnesses have told us there is at least one woman and a group of males who had to jump out of the way to avoid this car.
“We would urge any further witnesses, or these people directly involved, to call us on 101, quoting log 189 of today (23/03).”
