Two Arrested After Woman Suffers Life-Changing Injuries in Swindon Collision

Two people have been arrested following a serious road traffic collision in Swindon which left a woman with life-changing injuries.

Officers from Wiltshire Police are continuing to investigate the incident, which took place in Rodbourne Road during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A 28-year-old woman has also been arrested in connection with the investigation on suspicion of linked offences.

Both remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

The injured pedestrian was taken to hospital following the collision and is currently reported to be in a stable condition. Police have confirmed she is receiving treatment for injuries described as life-changing.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around Rodbourne Road, Crombey Street or the vicinity of Swindon Designer Outlet between 2am and 2.30am on 9 June.

Roads Policing Inspector Neil Duffin said investigators urgently need information that could help establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.

He said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area of the Swindon Outlet Village, Rodbourne Road or Crombey Street between 2am and 2.30am, to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“You may have information which could help with this investigation into a serious collision which left a woman seriously injured.

“We also need to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.”

Police are asking motorists, residents and businesses in the area to check any recordings captured during the relevant time period.
