A Swindon primary school is celebrating after receiving strong ratings in its latest inspection from Ofsted.
Tregoze Primary School, part of The White Horse Federation, was rated “strong” and “expected” across all areas following the recent inspection under Ofsted’s new reporting system.
The watchdog has recently moved away from its traditional one-word overall judgement, instead grading schools across several areas on a five-point scale ranging from “exceptional” to “urgent improvement.”
According to Ofsted guidance, the “expected standard” represents a high-performing school that is doing everything it should, rather than an average or middle rating.
Praise for Behaviour and Wellbeing
Inspectors highlighted the school’s values as a central part of pupils’ daily experience.
In the report, inspectors wrote that “trust, kindness, responsibility, resilience and empathy are central to pupils’ experience at Tregoze Primary School.”
The school received “strong” ratings in:
-
Attendance and behaviour
-
Early years education
-
Personal development and wellbeing
Meanwhile, achievement, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, and leadership and governance were all rated “expected.”
Inspectors also noted that pupils are highly motivated to learn and that the school demonstrates strong ambition for every child.
Classrooms were described as “calm and highly conducive to learning”, with staff praised for building positive relationships with pupils and their families.
Positive School Environment
Among the other highlights identified in the report were:
-
Pupils described as extremely polite and well-mannered
-
Children developing a strong sense of awe and wonder in the early years
-
Pupils of different ages playing positively together during social times
-
Effective support from the school’s pastoral team for pupil wellbeing and mental health
-
An ambitious and well-designed curriculum
-
Leaders acting in the best interests of disadvantaged pupils
