The number of deaths reported each day are not ‘the number of deaths in the last 24 hours’ as being reported

The number of deaths being reported this week has increased on a daily basis but the actual number of deaths are not ‘the number of deaths in the last 24 hours’ as being reported.

The NHS report the deaths at 2pm each day which includes confirmed deaths reported at 5pm the previous day.

With confirmation of COVID-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures taking several days it means that the totals reported each day may not include all deaths that occurred on that day or even on recent prior days.

We have taken the daily stats as reported officially by the NHS in England to give a true figure of deaths recorded against the date of death rather than the date the deaths were announced.
