Swindon seeing a rapid rise in Covid cases

Swindon Borough Council have confirmed that the town is seeing a rapid rise in positive Covid cases.

As of today Swindon’s seven-day rolling average case rate is 172 per 100,000, up from 142 on Friday 18th December.

This rise equates to nearly 400 new cases in the past 7-days.

The national case rate as of today is 263 per 100,000 and 121 per 100,000 in the South West.

A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson said ‘It’s up to all of us to minimise the extra burden on our local health services.

‘Protecting hospital beds and capacity to provide the medical care and treatment we depend on.’

‘Reducing the further spread and prospect of additional restrictions potentially being imposed on Swindon depends on our actions in the days ahead.’
