Swindon is set to make history once more as The Longevity Games prepares to take place on Sunday 20th July at Moredon Sporting Hub.
Marking a first for the UK, this functional fitness competition will be held on a fully closed cycle track, creating an unrivalled experience for participants. With only a handful of spaces left and entries closing at 7pm this Sunday, 6th July, the countdown is on for those keen to join this rapidly growing community event.
The response has been overwhelming. Hundreds are already signed up — from seasoned competitors to complete beginners. Groups of friends, families, gym communities, and personal training teams are set to challenge themselves, support one another, and become part of a fitness movement that champions both physical health and social connection.
The event has drawn impressive support from the local community, with 11 Swindon councillors entering — many returning after previous years — alongside four local GPs. This underlines the health sector’s backing of initiatives that focus on prevention and wellbeing.
Among the competitors are two notable figures: Joe Holroyde, former Gladiators semi-finalist, ex-HYROX World Champion and retired Public Health Medical Physician; and Celia Duff, affectionately known as “Badass Gran”, a former World Champion in her age group, whose determination continues to inspire many.
The Games also serve to unite Swindon’s wider health and fitness scene, alongside local charities. Groups such as Community Foster Care, The Roxi Foundation, Swindon Pickleball, Swindon Netball, and Elevation Aerial Fitness are all involved, helping to build connections and encourage ongoing positive change.
Founder Tim Howe explained, “This event is more than a competition — it’s about creating a culture of strength, connection, and prevention. The fact that so many different people — councillors, GPs, and everyday residents — are stepping forward is a sign of what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose.”
With the goal of making Swindon and the surrounding area the fittest part of the country, the event’s momentum is gathering fast.
