Hobbycraft is teaming up with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for a week of glitter, gems and sequins, with workshops taking place at stores across the UK to raise money for children’s literacy.
The Big Bedazzle Workshops will run at selected Hobbycraft stores from Monday 21 September to Friday 25 September, culminating in Give Like Dolly Day.
The sessions will give families and local communities the chance to customise clothing and accessories while raising money for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children.
Workshops cost £6 per person, with £2.16 from each booking donated to the Imagination Library – enough to cover the cost of funding one book for a child in the UK.
Hobbycraft colleagues and Artisans will lead the sessions, with participants encouraged to bring an item from home to transform or choose something in store.
Possible projects include decorating sunglasses, cowboy hats, backpacks, phone cases, trainers and denim jackets, or adding some sparkle to a Christmas jumper ahead of the festive season.
Participants will be able to use DDotz Freestyle Dotz, gems and sequins to create their own designs, with the workshops inspired by Dolly’s famously glittering stage style.
Emma Pickworth, from Hobbycraft’s Workshop team, said: “The Big Bedazzle brings together two things we know our customers love – creativity and community – while helping us support the incredible work of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
“For one week, we’re inviting everyone to put on their Stetson, pull up their cowboy boots and channel their inner country star with in-store workshops.”
Clare Cook, Fundraising and Communications Director at Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, said the partnership would help bring families together while supporting the charity’s work.
“We’re thrilled that Hobbycraft is supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library by bringing families and communities together for a week of creativity,” she said.
“Every donation will help us put more books into the hands of children and give more little ones the opportunity to discover the joy of reading.”
The Imagination Library provides free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth to five years old, with the aim of encouraging a lifelong love of reading and supporting early childhood development.
Additional donations will also be available in Hobbycraft stores on Friday 25 September.
Places at The Big Bedazzle Workshops can be booked through ClassBento.
