Suspected drugs recovered following warrant

Acting on information received following the arrest of a 34-year-old Swindon man on Friday Wiltshire Police officers were able to obtain an emergency warrant and recover a large amount of suspected herbal cannabis – making two further arrests.

They initially arrested a 34-year-old Swindon man on suspicion of Possession with Intent to Supply a Class B Drug at his town centre home. He is currently in police custody.

Further enquiries led to an emergency warrant being obtained for another address, in Wroughton, on the same day. This was carried out and a large amount of suspected herbal cannabis and cash was recovered.

A 54-year-old man and his 34-year-old partner were arrested on suspicion of Possession with Intent to Supply Class B drugs.

They were Released Under Investigation pending examination of the suspected drugs found at their address.

PC Samuel Whettam from South Central neighbourhood team in Swindon said: “This is a perfect example of what can be achieved using community intelligence.

“These warrants were obtained within a few hours of receiving information from an arrest made earlier in the day. This new information and intelligence already on our system allowed us to obtain a warrant which was granted by the courts. This allowed the recovery of these suspected drugs before they could be potentially sold on the streets of Swindon.”
