Police are appealing for information after a teenage boy was robbed of his electric bike in Walcot last weekend, in an incident that has left residents understandably unsettled.
The 16-year-old was in Buckhurst Recreational Ground between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday, 22 November, when he was confronted by a group of five or six males. According to police, the group demanded he hand over his e-bike and threatened him with violence. It is believed some of them were carrying weapons.
Fearing for his safety, the boy surrendered the bike before running from the scene. The group fled towards Bisley Close moments later.
Officers say the suspects were all around 17 or 18 years old and dressed in tracksuits with balaclavas — a description that, while not unusual at this time of year, still makes the incident a worrying one for those who use the park regularly.
Wiltshire Police are now keen to trace anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or anyone with dash cam or doorbell footage that might have captured the group moving through the estate.
A spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing and urged residents to get in touch if they saw anything that could help piece together the group’s movements before or after the robbery.
