Police Appeal After Goose Found Shot Dead at Jubilee Lake in Royal Wootton Bassett

Wiltshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a goose was reportedly shot and killed at Jubilee Lake in Royal Wootton Bassett.

The bird was discovered by a local resident on the morning of Monday 19 May with injuries believed to be consistent with being shot using an unknown weapon.

Officers believe the incident took place sometime between 5pm on Sunday 18 May and 7.45am the following morning.

Police have described the incident as a serious act of animal cruelty and are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area to come forward.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “This is an awful thing to do to an animal, and we take incidents like this extremely seriously.”

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed antisocial behaviour around Jubilee Lake during the timeframe in question or who may have information that could assist enquiries.
