There’s something quietly reassuring about a good old-fashioned quiz night. No fuss, no frills — just a handful of mates, a table, and the faint hope that someone in your group remembers the capital of obscure European countries. Now, the team at Cricklade Hotel & Spa is leaning into that simple charm, while adding a few extra reasons to stay out a little later on a Friday.
The hotel has unveiled a new programme of social evenings, aimed as much at locals as overnight guests. First up is a monthly quiz night, kicking off on Friday 27th March and set to become a regular fixture on the last Friday of every month. At £2 a head, it’s hardly going to break the bank, and with drinks offers running between 8pm and 10pm, it feels like the sort of low-key evening that could easily become a habit.
Expect the usual mix of head-scratching questions, a bit of friendly rivalry, and — if past experience counts for anything — at least one heated debate over an answer nobody is entirely sure about. There’ll be prizes on the line too, giving the more competitive among us something to aim for beyond bragging rights.
But if quizzes aren’t quite your thing, April brings something with a little more bite.
