Man charged with drink driving after M4 stop during Operation Limit

Motorists on the M4 may have noticed a heightened police presence over the weekend as officers continued their month-long push against drink and drug driving. That effort led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man who is now set to appear before Swindon Magistrates today.

Vincent Lime, from Caswell Close in Corringham, was stopped on the eastbound carriageway near junction 14 at around 3pm on Saturday. Officers were carrying out checks under Operation Limit, Wiltshire Police’s winter initiative aimed at curbing the type of dangerous behaviour that continues to cause needless collisions every year.

Following the roadside stop, Lime was taken into custody and later charged with drink driving as well as driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He has been held on remand ahead of his court appearance this morning.

Operation Limit, led by the Roads Policing Unit, has been appearing regularly across the county’s road network since the start of the month. The campaign combines enforcement with a clear message: driving under the influence is still a leading cause of serious injury on local roads, and officers are determined to deal firmly with anyone putting other road users at risk.

With the festive season approaching, police say their visibility will remain high, and further checks should be expected throughout December.
