The re-opening of barbers and hairdressers later this month has come too late to spare the blushes of Longleat’s pride of lions.
Keepers at the Wiltshire safari park took inspiration from parents across the country and attempted their own unique version of the lockdown haircut.
Results did not go entirely to plan and now the king of the jungles mane attraction has become something of a minor embarrassment.
“Initially we just wanted to tidy his mane up a little, it was only when we took a step back to admire our handiwork that we realised we may have been a little over-enthusiastic,” said keeper Lars Loopif.
“It’s definitely a lot neater but we decided it was probably not a good idea to bring out a mirror and show him what it looked like,” he added.
The rest of the pride has definitely noticed though and is giving both him and the keepers a wide berth.
They are hoping it will grow back before Longleat re-opens to visitors on 12th April.
