KT Tunstall is the second act announced as a headliner for BBC Radio Wiltshire’s Airwaves festival in May joining fellow headliners Scouting for Girls, along with the Urban Soul Orchestra, The Wurzels, broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and comedian Ivo Graham.
The Scottish singer-songwriter – whose hits include “Other side of the world” and “Suddenly I see” – will headline the BBC Radio Wiltshire event on Friday night.
More than 50 acts have signed up to the festival, which runs from May 29th to May 31st.
KT will be joined by West Country favourites The Wurzels, along with DJ Goldierocks and the Urban Soul Orchestra, a string ensemble that plays modern classics.
Stephen Hussey, musical director of Urban Soul Orchestra, said: “We’re so excited to be performing tracks from our Classic Ibiza show and new album at the Airwaves festival for BBC Radio Wiltshire.
“Getting all the amazing musicians from the Urban Soul Orchestra to perform together from lockdown in our homes is a massive technical challenge, but we’re up for it and ready …..and it’s gonna be awesome.”
The group has played on Oasis album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory and Mariah Carey’s Christmas Party. They are playing on the Saturday night.
Also joining the bill are Basil Brush, broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and comedian Ivo Graham.
Speaking on BBC Radio Wiltshire earlier this week, Ivo, from Marlborough, said his favourite thing about playing festivals is “getting in for free – that was basically the dream as a teenager”.
He added that performing without a crowd wouldn’t be a problem: “I’ve done plenty of gigs to almost no people in my time. I’m a well-honed practitioner of the silent comedy experience.”
Earlier this week the station announced that Scouting for Girls would headline the Saturday night and that Wiltshire acts Will Lawton and Burbank were also on the bill.
