The 2019 General Election is just a few weeks away, have you registered to vote?
If the answer is no and you want to make sure your voice is heard then read on and get registered. You have one week left to do so!
Are you eligible to vote?
To vote in a general election, you must:
- be 18 or over on polling day
- be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen (i.e. a Commonwealth citizen who has leave to enter or remain in the UK, or who doesn’t require that leave)
- be resident at an address in the UK, or a British citizen living abroad who has been registered to vote in the UK in the last 15 years
- not be legally excluded from voting.
What is the last date to register to vote in the General Election?
You’ve only got until midnight on 26th November to register to vote. You can do this at the ‘register to vote’ website here.
Fill out the required information, including your name, date of birth and a few other details.
You will also need your National Insurance number, which can be found on you National Insurance card, or in official paperwork such as payslips, or letters about benefits or tax credits.
