Giving Tuesday offers double the impact for Prospect Hospice’s Light Up A Life appeal

Prospect Hospice is calling on local people to come together this Giving Tuesday, with donations to its Light Up A Life appeal set to go twice as far thanks to a generous £40,000 pledge from a long-standing supporter.

For one day only, on Tuesday 2 December, every pound given to the appeal will be matched, offering a rare opportunity for supporters to make a greater difference to patients and families who rely on the hospice’s care across Swindon and north east Wiltshire.

In a first for the charity, all 17 of its shops will also take part in the initiative. Every purchase made on the day will be matched as well, meaning shoppers can pick up a bargain knowing the value of their buy will be effectively doubled for patient care.

Light Up A Life is Prospect Hospice’s annual remembrance campaign, inviting people to dedicate a light in memory of someone they love. Those dedications help to fund the hospice’s specialist palliative and end-of-life care, whether delivered at Wroughton or in the homes of patients who wish to remain surrounded by familiar comforts.

Katie, a regular supporter of the hospice, said: “Light Up A Life is really special to me. It offers a still moment to remember someone dear, while also helping others who are going through incredibly difficult times. With donations being doubled this Giving Tuesday, it feels like a powerful way for the community to come together.”

With demand for hospice services continuing to rise, Prospect Hospice hopes the extra boost from the matched fund will help safeguard its essential care and support for the months ahead.
