David Wilson Redrow South West has marked a significant milestone at its Buckley Gardens development in Melksham, with more than half of the homes now sold as the housebuilder looks ahead to 2026.
A total of 55 per cent of properties at the development have been purchased, with demand led strongly by local buyers. Almost half of all purchasers to date (49 per cent) have moved from within Melksham itself, while a further 9 per cent have relocated from Calne and another 9 per cent from Trowbridge.
First-time buyers have also played a key role in the development’s success, accounting for 44 per cent of all sales so far.
In addition, 29 per cent of buyers have taken advantage of David Wilson Homes’ Part Exchange or Part Exchange Xtra schemes, allowing customers to sell their existing home directly to the developer and move more quickly and with greater certainty.
A smaller proportion of purchasers (7 per cent) have bought through the site’s shared ownership scheme, delivered in partnership with registered provider Heylo Housing. This option allows buyers to purchase up to 75 per cent of a new-build home and pay rent on the remaining share.
Louise Ware, Sales Director for David Wilson Redrow South West, said:
“Reaching the halfway point at Buckley Gardens is a fantastic achievement and highlights the strong demand we’re seeing in and around Melksham.
“We’re particularly pleased to be welcoming so many local buyers, alongside a high proportion of first-time purchasers taking their first step onto the property ladder.”
