Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of a robbery and an attempted robbery on a 17-year-old boy in Swindon.
The first incident is believed to have taken place at approximately 5.30pm on Sunday November 24 – the victim was walking along Ruskin Avenue when he was approached by a group of five people who were all described as wearing black clothing with their faces covered. They pushed the victim to the floor and stole his silver necklace. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any serious injuries but was understandably shaken up.
The following day, (November 25) at approximately 5pm, the victim was walking along Shakespeare Path when he was approached by four people, who were once again described as dressed in black clothing with their faces covered.
They pushed the victim to the floor and proceeded to search through his pockets. They then used a knife to cut his clothing before walking off in the direction of Meadowcroft, leaving the victim on the floor.
Investigator Katey Baker said: “It is extremely fortunate that the victim was not seriously injured on either occasion but understandably he has been left shaken up as a result of these incidents, which weren’t reported to police until after the second incident had taken place.
“I appreciate incidents of this nature will no doubt cause concern for local residents – please be reassured that we have increased patrols in the area so if you do see a heightened police presence, please do not be alarmed.
“If you were in the area and saw the suspects, or the incidents take place, please get in touch no matter how small the information you have may seem as it could significantly help with our enquiries.”
