98 patients currently being treated with coronavirus at Great Western Hospital

Less than 100 people with either suspected or confirmed coronavirus are currently being treated at the Great Western Hospital.

With a total of 98 patients, 15 of which are no longer contagious, this number is higher than than during the first wave back in March and April last year.

New figures show the Great Western Hospital NHS Trust is also caring for 9 Covid-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

Across England there were 27,397 people in hospital with Covid as of February 2nd, with 3,324 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised has increased by 4% nationally in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has increased by 40%.
