Dr Laurie Marsh a successful entrepreneur and billionaire has plans to revitalise the town centre according to an interview with Labour’s Bob Wright on BBC Wiltshire.
Speaking yesterday Bob Wright said “What’s really annoyed me, is that the council has sat on a multi-million pound from a multi-millionaire to rebuild the town re but its not gone forward.”
The plans haven’t been taken any further as according to BBC Wiltshire, Swindon Borough Council are yet to be convinced by the plans.
Dr Marsh amassed his fortune through a number of property companies and has spent recent years spending his money for public good through charitable finance initiatives.
A charitable finance initiative helps public bodies establish themselves as a charity and develops their assets to produce capital investment funds to reinvest back into the charity.
It is understood the plans included a university, a conference centre and even the canal taking its place back into the centre of Swindon.
