After relegation to League Two was confirmed after defeat at home on Saturday Town fans are now asking questions about what players we will have come the start of the new season.
With fan favourites Nathan Thompson and John Obika out of contract and expected to move on to pastures new, what about the rest of the squad?
Feruz, Gladwin, Dabo, Jones, Ince, Colkett and Ajose will all return to their parent clubs on 31st may when their loan contracts end. Although Ajose is not available for Saturday’s trip to the Valley as town are facing Charlton, his parent club.
Of the remainder of the squad eleven players see their contracts run out on 30th June leaving the club with just five players still under contract come the start of the 2017/18 season.
Of these five it remains to be seen if £400k signing Lawrence Vigouroux will start the new season as Town number one with interest being shown in the January transfer window and no doubt those clubs coming back with a reduced offer knowing that Town will need to cut the playing budget even more after the drop.
This will leave us with James Brophy, Dion Conroy, Luke Norris and John Goddard returning for pre-season training.
