Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman had her handbag stolen in Swindon over the weekend.
The victim, a woman in her 80s, was shopping in the town centre between 11.30am and midday on Saturday 9th April when the incident happened.
She had walked between Iceland and the Age Concern charity shop in Havelock Street, and was pushing a black rotator trolley with her handbag in the front pocket.
She definitely had her handbag to pay for items in Iceland, but by the time she came to pay in the charity shop it had gone.
The handbag contained cash, bank cards and house keys.
PC Louise Godwin, from the local policing team, said: “We have looked through CCTV from the local area but have been unable to identify a suspect.
“However, we believe the victim was specifically targeted by someone due to her age and perceived vulnerability and we are appealing for anyone who was in that area of the town centre and witnessed anything, to please get in touch.
“This type of crime will undoubtedly have had a huge impact on the victim, and we are keen to speak to anyone who might be able to assist.”
