Swindonians hoping to jet off to Portugal as soon as UK travel restrictions are lifted next week have been dealt a blow as the Portuguese government extend its “state of calamity” until at least May 30th.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced from Monday 17th May people will be able to start travelling to coutries on the UK’s green list countries, which currently includes Portugal.
The Portuguese Government website has been updated in the last twenty-four hours after ministers approved an extension to the current lockdown.
Portuguese Cabinet office minister Mariana Vieira da Silva is quoted on the BBC saying she had “no information to give yet” when she was asked if restrictions on travel from the UK would be lifted.
“Work is going on and as soon as there is a decision it will be announced, but no decision was taken in this cabinet meeting,” she said.
