We often come to you with some kind of news or a new piece of information. However, we also tend to spread awareness and share any other valuable news. With that in mind, we have shared a bit about the importance of unwinding extension cables. Correlatively, we have decided to delve deeper into this category and help you learn more about cable and organisation.
More precisely, cable markers and their types. After all, different types of cable markers can help in different fields and ease up your work and productivity. From fibre networks to technological setups, cables and wires are everywhere. Therefore, it is high time to take some notes:
1. Self-Adhesive Or Laminating Markers
These markers are like stickers that you can wrap around a wire or cable. They already have sticking capacity, so you don’t have to put gum, tape, or anything else. These markers are easy for all kinds of wires that require alphabets or numerical values. Some even come blank so that you can write on them.
These markers can often provide an extra layer to the cable. So, in case the cable is wearing out with tears, you can use these markers as extra reinforcement for temporary performance.
2. Clip-On Or Slide-On Markers
These are another popular option. You can easily find them at the RS portal. These markers are usually available in different colours and often with letters, symbols, or numbers written or inscribed on them.
Clip-on markers are easier to add to the cable, as you can also add them to the pre-installed wires. However, slip-on markers require you to slip them while you’re installing them. They are often available in different shapes, as well. Their purpose is similar.
However, in situations where adhesive markers are too worn or may wear or tear out, clip-ons are better. For example, external use or the use in harsh climates.
3. Heat Shrink Cable Markers
Heat shrink cable markers are like a combination of clip-on and adhesive markers. You wrap them around a cable, and when exposed to heat, they shrink, snug and fit around the cable to prevent anyone from taking it off.
Heat shrink cables are usually made up of polyolefin and offer remarkable flexibility and durability that it is not easy for them to wear or tear. They are also compatible with laser printers for you to write something on them. Heat shrink cables are used in extreme weather conditions.
4. The Tie-On Tags
Tie-on tags or cable markers are usually made up of stronger or more durable materials like metal. They are used on the cables that are tied together in a bundle. Therefore, it is easier to use them to categorise the cable sets separately.
Tie-on tags are often used with clip-ons or some other material that ties the wires together to easily adhere. These are commonly found in large-scale or commercial-grade wiring and cable usage where you need to bundle many wires of the same type together.
