Police have this afternoon released an update on the Town Centre Stabbing which took place early on Monday morning and have revealed the injuries received were accidental.
It’s believed that an altercation between three men took place in the alleyway off Curtis Street and during it the man’s leg was wounded by a knife he had in his own pocket.
The man, who is in his 30s, is now out of hospital and recovering.
Detective Inspector Helen Jacobs, from Swindon CID, said: “Following further investigative work, I can now reassure people that this wasn’t quite as it first seemed and was an accident and not a random attack.
“I would like to re-iterate our message that anyone carrying a knife in public risks being caught and arrested – facing serious consequences. Also – as we have seen in this case – you risk harming yourself – seriously or even fatally. ”
Two people have been arrested in connection with this incident – both have been released under investigation.
