Kate Bingham ormer head of the country’s Vaccine Taskforce has today said the UK could exceed its target of vaccinating 15 million people over the next six weeks.
Speaking on Radio 4’s Political Thinking she said: “I’m reasonably confident that these goals will be met and possibly exceeded because of the planning and the teams in place to do it.”
Around 1.5 million people in the UK have had at least one dose of Covid vaccine so far with news today that in Swindon alone 9,000 doses of the vaccine are to be delivered by the end of January.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have also approved the Moderna vaccine today with the UK increasing its initial order of 7million doses, expected sometime in March, by a further 10 million taking the total Moderna order to 17 million.
