A Swindon-based public sector services provider has been shortlisted in five categories at this year’s Operational Excellence Awards UK, recognising its work to improve performance, efficiency and innovation across the public sector.
UK Shared Business Services (UKSBS), which provides HR, payroll, finance, procurement and IT services to public sector organisations, has received five nominations ahead of the national awards ceremony in September.
The organisation’s Operations Team is in the running for Operations Team of the Year, recognising its work in leading complex improvement projects, embracing organisational change and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the business.
UKSBS has also been shortlisted for Training Programme of the Year for its Green Belt Lean Six Sigma programme. During the past year, three cohorts of employees have completed the training, with participants gaining Green Belt accreditation only after successfully delivering workplace improvement projects with measurable results.
Individual recognition has also gone to two UKSBS colleagues based in Newport. Julie Lammond-Ross has been shortlisted in the Women in Operations category, while Daniel Stevens has been recognised as a finalist for Rising Star in Operations.
Tim Knight, Chief Operating Officer at UKSBS, said: “This is a fantastic reflection of the talent and dedication across UKSBS. I’m proud of the way our teams have embraced continuous improvement, and I’m delighted that the benefits they deliver for our clients have been recognised through these awards.”
The Operational Excellence Awards UK celebrate organisations and individuals that are driving improvements in productivity, efficiency and performance through innovation and data-led decision-making. The awards aim to highlight best practice from across both the public and private sectors.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 24 September at the Park Plaza London Riverbank, where organisations from across the UK will gather to celebrate excellence in operations and continuous improvement.
