Swindon residents are being invited to meet local policing representatives and discover more about how Wiltshire Police is held accountable at a special community event taking place this week.
On Friday, 7 August, between 11am and 3pm, representatives from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, alongside members of the Wiltshire Police Scrutiny Team, will be at the Swindon Outlet Centre with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
The event offers residents the chance to find out how police scrutiny works, how the use of police powers is monitored and reviewed, and how public feedback helps shape policing across the county.
Visitors will be able to speak directly with members of the teams, learn more about the processes used to provide oversight of policing activity and see examples of body-worn video footage from real incidents.
The team will also be on hand to discuss plans to improve understanding around police powers and hear residents’ thoughts and experiences about how those powers are used within the community.
The event forms part of ongoing work to make policing more open and transparent, giving people the opportunity to ask questions and better understand the checks and balances that sit behind everyday policing.
Residents are encouraged to drop by, have a conversation with local policing representatives and share their views on how policing services can continue to improve across Wiltshire and Swindon.
