St Luke’s Academy students celebrate results day success

Students at St Luke’s Academy in Swindon are celebrating their GCSE results, with the school reporting another year of progress across the number and level of qualifications being achieved.

The Year 11 students received their results following examinations held in May and June, with more than 60 per cent achieving five or more qualifications, including Maths and English.

St Luke’s Academy, part of The White Horse Federation, provided additional revision sessions, one-to-one support and pastoral and wellbeing provision to help students prepare for their examinations.

For some students, results day represented more than simply a set of grades, marking the end of a period in which they had also developed greater confidence and independence.

Jermain Bowers said the opportunities and support provided by the academy had helped him progress towards his next step.

“Being at St Luke’s has been a great experience due to the amount of opportunities I have been given,” he said.

“Thanks to all of the staff who have supported me at St Luke’s Academy. Without their support I doubt I would be going to college.”

He added that he was looking forward to continuing his education and building on the skills and experiences gained at the school.

Fellow student Evie Chalk said the support she received had helped her believe in herself.

“I didn’t think I would do very well, however, being at St Luke’s Academy helped me to believe in myself,” she said.

“Someone has always got your back and this has helped me to grow, not only academically, but in so many other ways as well.”

Associate Principal Thomas Green said staff were proud of the determination shown by students throughout their exam journey.

“Our students have shown remarkable determination and resilience throughout their exam journey, overcoming challenges that extend well beyond the classroom,” he said.

“I’m incredibly proud of the progress they’ve made – not just in grades, but in confidence, independence, and self-belief.”

He said the results reflected the wider school community and the commitment of staff to supporting every student.

Dr Dan Nicholls, CEO of The White Horse Federation, also congratulated the students and thanked staff and families for their support.

“Congratulations to all our students! We are so proud of the commitment they have shown as well as everything they have achieved,” he said.

He added that the federation was looking forward to seeing what the students go on to achieve as they move into the next stage of their education and training.

For the students at St Luke’s, results day now marks the beginning of the next chapter, with many preparing to move on to college, further education, training and employment.
