St Benedict Beer Festival Returns to Swindon After Successful Debut

A community beer festival that drew crowds to Swindon’s historic Old Town last summer is set to return later this year, with organisers promising a bigger and better event.

The second St Benedict Beer Festival will take place at St Mark’s Church on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July, bringing together local residents, visitors, real ale enthusiasts and families for two days of food, drink and live entertainment.

Held within the grounds of the Victorian church on Church Place, the festival will once again raise money to support the ministry and community work of the Parish of Swindon New Town.

Building on the success of its inaugural event in 2025, organisers have expanded this year’s offering, with more than 20 beers and eight ciders expected to be available across the weekend.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy soft drinks, snacks and hot food vendors, ensuring there is something for everyone, whether they are dedicated ale drinkers or simply looking for a relaxed summer outing.

One of the unique aspects of the festival is its setting. St Mark’s Church, designed by renowned Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and consecrated in 1846, remains one of Swindon’s most striking historic buildings. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to explore the church and view its celebrated Thomas Kempe stained glass windows while enjoying the event.

Live entertainment will once again form a major part of the weekend.

Friday evening will feature a performance from folk favourites What The Pluck, while Saturday sees the return of Kelly-Anne Country, previously known as Kelly Sings Country, following a popular appearance at last year’s festival.

Organisers are even encouraging attendees to dust off their line-dancing boots for the occasion.

Admission is priced at £12 for a single day or £20 for both days. Tickets include a commemorative St Benedict Beer Festival souvenir glass, a festival programme and a complimentary half pint of beer, cider or a soft drink.

Additional drinks will be available through a token system, with tokens purchased separately at the ticket desk.

CAMRA members will receive an additional complimentary half pint on production of a valid membership card.

While beer festivals are often associated solely with drinks, organisers are keen to emphasise the wider community atmosphere they hope to create.

Last year’s event attracted a broad cross-section of local residents, combining traditional ales and ciders with live music, conversation and support for a local cause.

With summer in full swing by late July, organisers will be hoping the weather plays its part as visitors gather beneath marquees and among the church grounds for what is becoming an increasingly established fixture on Swindon’s community calendar.

The St Benedict Beer Festival takes place from 4pm until 10pm on Friday 24 July and from midday until 10pm on Saturday 25 July at St Mark’s Church, Church Place, Swindon.
