A woman has died following a collision on the A419 near Swindon on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway close to White Hart Roundabout at around 8.30am after a collision involving a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a Toyota Aygo.
Wiltshire Police said the Toyota is believed to have broken down on the carriageway before the collision occurred.
The driver of the Toyota, a woman in her 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with them at this tragic time.”
The driver of the van did not suffer any reported serious injuries. Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made.
The collision led to the closure of the northbound carriageway for much of the day as officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team carried out enquiries at the scene.
Traffic disruption affected motorists travelling through the area, with the closure expected to remain in place through the evening rush hour while investigations continued.
The southbound carriageway has since reopened.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dash cam footage to come forward.
