This year, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s charity, Brighter Futures, is merging its annual Reindeer Run with the Swindon Phoenix Rotary Clubs’ Santa Run.
This will bring together Swindon’s most loved winter fun runs to create one big event on Sunday 1 December at Lydiard Park. The Christmas themed run will be called Santa vs Rudolph, and the only decision you need to make is which team you’ll be on.
There will be the choice of 3k, 5k or 10k routes, which participants can run, jog or walk. Depending on their team, runners will be able to wear a Santa hat or reindeer antlers.
All money raised at the fun run will be split between Brighter Futures and the Phoenix Rotary Club, who will be donating their share of the fundraising to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Michelle Leighton, Community and Events Fundraising Manager, said: “This is a great opportunity to support the health authority throughout Wiltshire via Great Western Hospital and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. Together we want to have the biggest Christmas themed running event in Swindon and hope to attract at least one thousand participants.
“All the funds raised for Brighter Futures will go towards enhancing the care provided at the hospital and out in the community.”
Patrick O’Farrell, President of Swindon Phoenix Rotary Club, said: “Building on the support the Rotary community gave to Brighter Futures’ Radiotherapy Appeal, we are very excited to once again join forces, this time to launch together a festive themed run.”
