Across the country, local authorities juggle the different demands and expectations of both their community and national government. They provide hundreds of services and play their part in responding to a wide range of societal issues. Whether that’s supporting an ageing population, addressing climate change or dealing with the impact of online shopping on the high street. And of course, that’s not forgetting the need for councils to balance the books.
Today, the services the Council has to prioritise its money on take up far more of the budget than they did in the past. It involves making difficult choices as well as focusing on the services we’re legally required to provide.
For those residents who want to know more, they want to explain our role, the hard choices that they have to make and to share the work they are doing to support and improve our town.
On Thursday, 11 March at 5 pm, you can join Swindon Link for a live Microsoft Teams Q&A, as editor Jamie Hill poses your questions to Councillor Russell Holland, Deputy Leader of the Council.
Now is your chance to have your say, ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask and let us know: what matters to you?
If you have a question you’d like them to answer, send it to Publisher@swindonlink.com and click the link below to join the event on Thursday.
The live Q&A will be broadcast via Microsoft Teams. You do not need to have Teams downloaded to join the session.
You can also join the Facebook event to be notified when the session begins.
