|Police are appealing for information and urging the public to be vigilant following a purse dip in Royal Wootton Bassett.
On 24th September, an 89-year-old woman was shopping in the town centre and visited a number of places including a doctors surgery in Tinkers Lane, the RSPCA shop, Subway and then to a bank where she noticed her purse was missing.
The woman’s card was then used at a Polish shop and Abbey Stores in Manchester Road, Swindon at approximately 1.50pm.
A CCTV image of a man police would like to speak to in connection with this incident.
PC Gemma Henson said: “We’d urge people to ensure they follow a few simple steps to help reduce their risk of falling victim to this type of crime.
“Always avoid carrying large amounts of cash with you, ensure your bag is close to you with the clasp facing inwards and place your purse in the bottom of the bag, or in a zipped compartment. Purse straps also help secure your purse to your handbag.
“If you recognise the man pictured, please get in touch to help us with our investigation.”
