PC Gemma Henson said: “We’d urge people to ensure they follow a few simple steps to help reduce their risk of falling victim to this type of crime.

“Always avoid carrying large amounts of cash with you, ensure your bag is close to you with the clasp facing inwards and place your purse in the bottom of the bag, or in a zipped compartment. Purse straps also help secure your purse to your handbag.

“If you recognise the man pictured, please get in touch to help us with our investigation.”
