A partial closure order has been obtained for an address which was being used for drug dealing in Walcot, Swindon.
It comes after two 21-year-old men from London were located and arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences at the address in Marlowe Avenue last week.
It is believed they had been forcing the occupant to allow them to use the house as a base from which they could deal drugs – known as cuckooing.
Both are currently on police bail with conditions not to return to Swindon.
Following their arrest, officers from Swindon South Community Policing Team applied for the partial closure order and were successfully granted it by magistrates on Tuesday.
It means that only the occupier and family members mentioned in the order will be allowed in the address. Anyone else found in the premises will be committing an offence and is likely to be arrested.
A/Insp David Tippetts said: “This is the seventh order of this type that we have obtained in the last two months.
“We have responded swiftly to intelligence and put the closure order process in place at the same time that two males were arrested.
“This power enables us to protect vulnerable people, and disrupt the activity of these drugs networks, preventing class A drugs from reaching people within our communities.
“Now we have this partial closure order in place, we will continue to monitor the address with regular visits, and anyone found in the premises other than those who are permitted, will be liable to arrest.
The order will be in place for three months with an option to extend if there are further issues.
If you suspect drug activity in your neighbourhood, call 101.
